Tips on improving your health

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are the answers to some common questions we get asked, but if yours isn't on this list please feel free to contact our friendly team on 3263 5786 and they will be happy to give you the answers you need.

  • Do I need a referral?

No, you don't need a referral to see a physiotherapist unless you have injured yourself at work and are going to be claiming under Workcover Queensland; are a DVA patient or are referred by your GP for a chronic condition through Medicare via the EPC program. We will always communicate with your GP or specialist to ensure you receive the best possible care.

  • What can I expect at my initial appointment?

Your treating Physiotherapist will perform a thorough assessment, diagnose the problem and provide education regarding both the symptoms and the cause, then develop an evidence based treatment plan with you. You will receive treatment aimed at relieving your symptoms and start a rehabilitation program aimed at your individual needs.

  • What does treatment involve?

Treatment will be aimed at your individual needs but can involve:

    • Hands-on manual therapy including joint mobilisation or manipulation, massage and stretching

    • Exercise prescription for flexibility, strengthening and postural correction

    • Neuromuscular dry needling

    • Electrotherapy modalities

    • Taping

  • Can I claim through my private health insurance?

Yes, if you have extras cover on your private health insurance most funds provide a rebate towards Physiotherapy. Bring your health fund card with you as we have HICAPS facilities to enable direct transfer of funds and you will only need to pay the 'gap' fee based on your level of cover. We provide EFTPOS and credit card facilities for payment of any gap amount.
